Crossing the channel

Day 1 373 miles
It's usually interesting to exchange travel plans with other bikers, except this time we had to swallow hard and tame down our story. Our fellow travellers proudly announced they were going no further than Belgium .
We go on deck. Missing the fresh air already? Alan takes safety precautions. We see a man struggling to take photos of the gulls who are too near for his large lens.

We get as far as Arlon on the Belgium/Luxembourg border. Mustn't say the 'c' word but it's freezing. Alan has fond memories of a camp site there being biker friendly, but where is it? Have they moved it? Ahhh, finally we find it and, shiver me timbers, the swimming pool is all ours. I wonder why?

Two hours ago everything was strewn all over our house. How did Alan manage to get everything onto the bike? I love this feeling at the very beginning of a trip, after all the pre-holiday stress we're back on the road, everything left behind. Whatever we have forgotten must remain forgotten and I love the anticipation of what's to come. The next few weeks are an open canvas.
